Holiday Rentals from Owners Direct

Access

The nearest shop and bar/restaurant are in the village of Fuente del Conde reached by a country lane which winds down into the valley from your hilltop retreat (1.8km). By car the journey is 5 minutes down and the same up. On foot allow 20 minutes for adults down the hill at a nice stroll. 30 - 40 minutes will get you back up with moderate effort.

Getting To Spain

Fly to either Malaga or Granada. The drive from these airports is 60 to 75 minutes. Allow approx 2 hours from Sevilla.

Food Shopping/Stocking Up

Fuente Del Conde

The local grocer's in Fuente del Conde (opposite Bar Los Pajaritos) has the basics and is open (usually) Monday to Saturday 9 am to 2 pm, and in the evening from 5pm.

Iznajar

The nearest Supermarket is Dia in Iznajar (20 mins) same opening hours as above. Turn right after the bridge and it is on your left as you drive up the hill towards the centre of town. There is another supermarket at the top of the hill on your right as well as numerous other shops.

Villanueva de Tapia

Nearby Tapia also has shops and a couple of small supermarkets.

Rute and Loja

The two larger towns of Rute and Loja both offer the relaxed pleasure of Spanish café life and plenty of shops to visit and people to watch. Rute (35 mins) is beyond Iznajar.

Loja (30 mins) is picturesque and follow the back road through Fuente Del Conde with Bar Los Pajaritos behind you and to your right (A328) for some beautiful lake views and scenery. If you shop at the MERCADONA supermarket you can park free in their underground car park for three hours.

Archidona and Antequera

Boast real atmosphere, lots of shops and bars and plenty to look at and do.

Hypermarkets at Lucena and Malaga

The hypermarket Carrefour has a store in Lucena (50 mins) where you can buy almost anything. There are also two Carrefours in Malaga; you can see them next to the road as you follow directions from the airport.

Eating Out

Iznajar Beach Bar From Almendrillo drive towards Iznajar, then over both bridges and turn left immediately after the second bridge (sign is for Escuela de Vela - Sailing School). Follow the road onto the beach or park at the beach bar.

The Bobadilla The height of gastro indulgence is the Bobadilla Hotel (Five Stars). From Almendrillo follow the A333 back towards Salinas and the motorway. After you pass Tapia on your left you'll see the Bobadilla's welcome flags (yes flags) on the left. A beer or coffee here is quite an experience and won't break the bank.

La Paloma, between Villanueva de Tapia and Salinas. Our favourite for lunch or dinner is La Paloma, great Italian cooking. From Almendrillo follow the A333 back towards Salinas, and before the Bobadilla you see the sign on your left. Tel: 0034 952750409.

Casa Manolo, Salinas In the village of Salinas you will find Casa Manolo at the end of the main street on the left.

The Bull ring, Antequera Recommended by a former guest, 'We had a great meal at the Bull ring. Fantastic restaurant underneath the seating with great Tapas.'

How to get to Finca El Almendrillo

Driving Directions

The motorway links to The Finca are excellent.

From Malaga airport terminal building follow all signs N340 Malaga. Follow the right-hand curve and join up with dual-carriageway. After 1500 metres there is a sign 500m, Rda de Malaga, Motril, Antequera. 500m later take the exit, marked Palacio de Ferias, Motril, Antequera. Follow the right-hand curve over the motorway and join up with it. Now you are on the E15 Andalucian coast road, heading East (Almeria, Cordoba, Granada, Sevilla)

After 8 km you see sign Cordoba, Granada, Sevilla (A45). Take the exit. You are now driving North away from the coast into the hills.

After 26 km you see sign A92(M) Granada. Stay on the right-hand side of the carriageway and take the right fork in the motorway to A92(M) Granada.

After 23 km you see sign A333 Salinas, Va de Tapia / Villanueva de Tapia

(Note: Do not turn off for "Va de / Villanueva de" anything else)

Take A333 exit, and at bottom of slip road turn left under the bridge for Salinas and Va de Tapia. Follow road 1 km into Salinas.

When you get to T-Junction, you see sign Va de Tapia 8, Iznajar 21. Turn left following sign.

After 8 km you see Villanueva de Tapia on your right. Continue on A333.

After 5 km at junction, turn right, taking A328 to Loja.

Follow the road 4km into the village of Fuente del Conde. On your right as you enter the village is the church, set back from the road.

A further 100 metres on the right is Los Pajaritos (Antonio's Bar).

Directions from Fuente del Conde to Finca El Almendrillo (approx 10 minutes drive) available upon booking.

Total journey time Airport to El Almendrillo following these directions: 1 1/4 hours in average traffic.
